Papa
Posted in Intuitions and experimentations on 14 juin 2009 by jessssicaJust wanted to make portraits…
Something between an ode to his wrinkles and terrified exploration of that face I used to know.
Je voulais juste faire des portraits. Quelque chose entre un ode à ses rides et l’exploration terrifiée d’un visage que j’avais l’habitude de connaitre. (Quelle impudeur…)

Don’t Forget to pray…

This animation is a test for a performance project with Claire Danvy.
So, this is the story of two girls that love drawing on themselves, and that want to make a performance together. Concretly, Claire and I are preparing a video-concert derivated from a performance we made 2 weeks ago in Airan.
She plays cello, and we both sing. As usual in my « anti-spectacles », the basic elements are simple, but our energy bring them to a contemplative dimension.
So far the performance works pretty well by its own, but as we are both interrested by video, we are currently thinking of interacting with images during our improvisation.

Posted in City, streets, and things. on 14 juin 2009 by jessssicaI wish I were a surveillance camera…. hey wait, I can be !!
Created for a workshop untitled « la machine à enregistrer » (the recording machine), this animation is a part of the collective édition « +++ » made with Marine Broussaud, Alexis Deboeuf, Charlotte Guillier, Solveig Robbe, and orchestrated by Celine Duval.
Enjoy the attraction of boring things.

Micro-bidouillages
Posted in Intuitions and experimentations on 4 avril 2009 by jessssicaHere is a video I made last year, after monthes of stop motion experimentations.
Consider it as abstract landscapes, or as matter coming to life.
It stills has no definitive name (as I can’t choose between « micro-paysages » or « affrontement ») but it also can be seen on Megavideo (better quality) there : http://www.megavideo.com/?v=DZQDQXHF
Concepted as a dyptich, the two screens was forming an angle in order to surround the viewer.
What was first some experiments on how different everyday-materials could be animated, started fascinating me for it’s unexpected plastic quality. I guess my first crush, the Arte Povera’s sculptures, playing on the tension between materials in a symbolic and a sensitive way really influenced me.

- Jannis Kounellis, « Senza Titolo », 1969

Giovanni Anselmo, Senzo titolo (Struttura che mangia), 1968
The sountrack is also mine. Translating the movement created by the animation into sound, braught a third « screen ». I consider these 3 elements as independent and complementary.
Fake paper trash
Posted in City, streets, and things. on 26 mars 2009 by jessssicaMy brand new researches…
Working on how much discrete my interventions can be.
So far, I duplicated in delicate detail several garbages found in the street and replace the copy at the exact same place that the original.
I like the idea of treating my art pieces as trash, of making a gesture without an obvious aim, almost absurd. The devellopment of all that is coming soon.
